![]() It is a Fortune 1000 company based on its annual revenues. Its wholly owned insurance company, one of the largest in the world, underwrites more than two million insurance contracts, totaling more than $114 billion of life insurance in force as of 2021. The organization also provides certain financial services to the individual and institutional Catholic market. The Knights promote the Catholic view on public policy issues, including opposition to same-sex marriage and abortion. In addition to providing an insurance system for its members, its charter states that it endeavors "to promote such social and intellectual intercourse among its members as shall be desirable and proper." It has grown to support refugee relief, Catholic education, local parishes and dioceses, and global Catholic social and political causes. The organization was founded in March 1882 as a mutual benefit society for working-class and immigrant Catholics in the United States. The organization is named after the Italian explorer Christopher Columbus. Membership is limited to practicing Catholic men. ![]() The Knights of Columbus ( K of C) is a global Catholic fraternal service order founded by Michael J. International Alliance of Catholic Knights. You won't be the first agent clients have seen, and they will remind you of that over and over again. Most of the membership is also more - more. If you can't stay on pace, you lose anything extra you were supposed to make. You can get an expense allowance, but only on life sales and as long as you are 'on pace' for benefits. You start on a draw which you are expected to pay back, or the GA is on the hook for it. You will probably work out of your home unless you are close enough to the General Agent's office. You will not get paid for service work (update banking information, beneficiary changes, loans, etc) but you are expected to meet with people and do the work as their home office doesn't have the means to do so over the phone or with technology. Products aren't bad, but are very limited in this day of age especially if clients want to do investing. Depending on how your territory looks like, you could be driving 15 minutes to over an hour away to see someone. Expect mostly evening appointments, and you'll be driving to their home. You will need to recruit new members to keep your business going meaning they are going to have to be over 18, male, and Catholic to join. You will be given somewhere between 400-800 members, but you probably won't be able to touch about 35% of them because they won't qualify to buy anything from you. If you don't have drive, motivation, and self-discipline, the odds are you are going to fail at this position. but they do.įirst off, can this be a successful position? Yes, BUT it is pretty much up to you and your effort. Many men stick it out for years, not sure how?. (filing death claims, selling off annuities, spinning wheels, attending non-selling events at night and weekends, etc.) You can spend hours on these things without any pay or commission.yet you are expected to still make calls and schedule sales appts. you work off of a "draw" (no this is not the 1980's KOC, but they think so) 100% commission only. (talk about "big brother") and if you do not enter the information on your KOC computer you are in for a scolding of "breaking the law". (remember this is not the 1950's and we are not selling vacuum cleaners) GA's track your every phone call, every response, every meeting, every cancelled meeting, etc. ![]() GA's want you to actually "knock on people's doors" at night if they don't return your phone calls or emails. I can't even imagine how difficult KOC FA's must have to work now. This company will die with its rapidly-aging membership unless they change something soon. You’d have to sell A LOT if you want to make enough money to survive. Generally speaking you only make about 57% of a policy’s first year premiums. ![]() Yes you have to pay for your own marketing materials. You have to recruit new members yourself if you want new leads. A lot of the listed members are long-dead or have no good information for you to follow up on. Some of them aren’t even Catholic any more and don’t really care about the Knights. Your market is limited to Catholic males and their families.Ĭannot sell to women over 18 if they’re not married to a Catholic man. And they take over $60 per paycheck as a technology fee. The bad? Software in the computers is terrible. ![]()
